Reviving Poetry is designed to guide students studying poetry for the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education examinations in the revised English syllabus.
Students following other educational curricular will also find this handbook useful.
The book follows an interactive approach and has the following unique features:
¢ Each section introduces concepts through a discussion between the teacher and the students and then among the students themselves, borrowing heavily from the students’ everyday experiences. The concepts are then developed using a variety of poems.
The student is guided on how to present the concept in an exam situation through sample answers based on poems already covered. Each section ends with examination type questions to evaluate the student’s mastery of content. Features related to the performance of poetry such as poetry recitation have been included.
A comprehensive revision unit testing literary appreciation and other skills such as vocabulary, and verbal skills has also been included.
